It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Family Fun Goal - Tradition: Attend a Chicago Fire Game

The reason this goal has two dates is that Michael and Nan attended Opening Day way back when we were afraid it would be cold and rainy. Cold? Rain? Doesn't the possibility of either of those two seem like a dream???? :)

For Father's Day, we abandoned our father (as he will tell you) to attend the Fire game. We made it up to him with a more pleasant meal and good gift.

My brother-in-law isn't bothered by heat (He is from South America.) and loves soccer (He is from South America.) Being home on leave, we had to include him and his family in our tradition!

So it was Father's Day. Michael planned the day: tailgating, game, and then Portillos. It was great except for one detail we couldn't control - the heat. It was VERY HOT which made tailgating in the blacktop parking lot a little less fun then usual.

Michael and Vic didn't notice and had a great day!

Trying hard to find a tiny bit of shade.

Enjoying kabobs and junk food. For some reason food tastes better eaten this way.

Wearing their Chicago Fire Scarves even though it is 100 degrees.

Aunt KayKay kept Jo entertained with snacks in the park.

This poor little boy kept falling asleep but would be woken up by all those thousands of cheering/booing people.

We sat near this fan club - unintentionally. It was okay for most of us because they only spoke Spanish. We finally asked Vic to stop translating.....too much bad language (but it was funny!)

Jo is fine as long as she has her mom or Uncle Vic.
