It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

2013 Family Fun Goals

On Sunday, our pastor shared this Scripture about goal setting from James 4:13-15

"Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

As 2013 begins, we know that the year will never be perfect and only full of happy things. We can plan and set goals, yet we have no guarantees that we will be able to fulfill them. Even so, we are certain that Christ has a plan for our lives. He tell us in Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."
For some of you this New Year's Day finds you ending a difficult year and unable to imagine setting "Fun" goals.  That is one of the reasons we began setting Fun Goals: sometimes circumstances were yucky and difficult. We needed look forward to creating fun memories together no matter what was going on in our daily lives.

This is our third year making Family Fun Goals because we have found it is a great way for us to be deliberate about spending fun time together as a family. Maybe you need to make some Family Fun Goals of your own? If you do, please let us know. We would love to hear about it.

Also, if you are one of those starting 2013 discouraged and unable to even fathom planning something fun, would you drop me an email? (where.love.starts.email@gmail.com) It would be my blessing to be able to correspond and pray with you.
