It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Surprise, Surprise

I still haven't produced a decent blog post about Di*na, who we orphan hosted last year. It will come just not sure when (or how). It is complicated. (Yet not that interesting.)

That complication along with some other time and money commitments made us decide that we were NOT going to orphan host this summer.

But wouldn't you know...we are!

The end of June will find us at the airport picking up this sweet girl who is flying all the way to Illinois from Eastern Europe!

N*stya (she pronounces it with a soft first "a" and the emphasis on the last syllable. Nah-styah.), is her nickname. She is around Nan's age. The picture was taken over this past Christmas when she was hosted through New Horizons by another family in Southern California.

We need to be careful about posting too much information for her privacy and safety. We are still figuring out how that will look. Last summer, we were very careful about posting photos and using Di*na's name. N*stya's  previous host family kept a very detailed blog with lots of pictures....so we may be a bit more lenient this summer. Especially because they (and lots of other people who met and love her) will want to keep up with her!

Once again, we will be asking for your support. Soon, I will be posting an email with our material needs but in the meantime, please pray for her and us.

Finally, there are still dozens of children who need to find a place to hang out for a few weeks this summer. Please, please consider hosting too! (All the cool kids are doing it.)

For more information visit this the New Horizons for Children website.

  1. No matter what country you choose we have you covered. New horizons hosts children from two eastern European countries and we are rehosting from the other country that the Robey's are not, so you ate not in it alone.
