It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Family Fun Goal: Camp Out (not in our backyard)

Years ago we lived across the street from some people who went 'camping' all of the time. I use the term camping loosely because they camped in a very luxurious RV that cost almost 3 times what our house did. I love that they enjoyed spending time away from home together as a family...but I don't think we could call it camping.

I share that story because I feel like we cheated a little bit in meeting our family fun goal of camping not in our backyard. We rented an RV! It wasn't anything like the one I was just describing but it did have a fridge and air conditioning so it wasn't exactly roughing it.

To be honest, this picture shows smiley people but the truth is we were biting each others heads off.

Playing Memory (a game that both a 2-year old and a non-English speaker can participate in) while munching popcorn...for the record it was not strip memory....that is just part of being 2 yrs old!

The girls had their own bunk room. In my opinion this is not so much different than the bunk beds Nan and Nastya sleep on every night in a larger space but the three of them thought it was great. (We used Christmas lights as a night light that is what is strung all around.) Nastya is braiding Jo's hair in this picture.

We attempted to cook our supper over the fire pit one night. But you had to buy firewood at the campground and it wasn't quite dry enough. It took a long time to get it actually on fire. After about an hour, I finally microwaved some hot dogs. We did eventually get to make smores but that was long after Jo asked to go to bed.

The girls spent  their time waiting for the fire to catch but putting on glow stick shows for us. Here they are in the dark.

This is what is looked like in the light. Not as cool but they like to see both. :)
