It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

A Shirley Temple to drink while watching Shirley Temple in A Little Princess.

My grandparents had just given us a Shirley Temple DVD for Christmas. We hadn't even had a chance to watch it yet. After hearing the news this morning that Shirley Temple had passed away, we decided that tonight was the night to unwrap it. So we cuddled in for movies, popcorn, and, of course, Shirley Temples to drink.

You can read a little about the history of this drink and find a recipe here. We made the original version minus the maraschino cherry because sadly my children don't appreciate this delicacy!

Our DVD contained a short biography of this amazing lady. We discussed what being an ambassador is and the countries in which she served. (Government and Geography lessons slipped in there without Nan noticing!)

Nan's favorite Shirley Temple movie is The Little Princess.

Which one is your favorite?
