It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Long Weekend in Northern IN and MI

We took a long weekend to pick up Nan from camp in Northern Indiana, after that we headed north to hang out with N*stya, her sisters, and her host family, and then on to visit with friends.

Parents attend the end of camp program with campers. If you look closely a picture of Nan tubing is on one  of the large projection screens.

After picking up all her dirty, smelly stuff, we headed to my grandmothers. Jo wouldn't let Nan out of her sight while Nan talked for over an hour straight telling us about camp.

Enjoying some Chicago-style hot dogs with Grandma Fuzzy

A friend had passed along that Krispy Kreme was celebrating their 77th birthday with some special deals. We had to help them celebrate, of course!

Yes, I was the cool mom with 4 dozen doughnuts and a hat, who asked Nan to take my picture in front of the hot and ready sign. Yeah, cool is the word I think Nan was using to describe me.
After a little swimming in the hotel pool, we headed to supper at JoJo's Pizzeria! Seriously, we got back to the hotel and the girls were asleep by 7:30. All of us were asleep by 8!
We woke up the next morning and headed to a local park to meet N*stya and her host family.

We played at the playground, picnicked, and sat around talking.

It was cool so we didn't spend as much time in the lake as we had planned

Later that evening we went blueberry picking with another family.

Maybe I should say Blueberry eating/picking. It was drizzling a little so we had the place to ourselves!

Finally one of our kids is old enough to babysit! So the parents were able to head out to downtown Holland. This pizza was made with the flour ground at the windmill right there in downtown.

Corky's Dogg House in Cedar Lake, IN
