It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

First Day Photos 2014-2015 School Year

We technically do a "soft start" to school, so we started weeks ago. This is the first week with all subjects for Nan and Jo's first week with phonics.

Nan is 10 years old and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. Her favorite food is mashed potatoes. Her favorite Show is Jessie. Her favorite movie is The Hobbit. Her Favorite Place to Visit is Disney World. Her favorite friends are Mae, Abby, and Eliana. Go to DQ, Swim, Talk, and Ride Bikes are her favorite things to do with her friends.

JoJo is 4 Years Old and wants to be a mom and dad and a grandma and pick up sticks when she grows up. Her favorite foods are noodles and popsicles. Her favorite tv show is Doc McStuffins, Her favorite movie is Frozen. Her favorite place to visit is Pizza Hut. Her favorite friends are Charlie, Gwyneth, LIlian, Zoe and ASHER! (And she whispered, and Asher's brothers). Her favorite things to do with her friends are play and play teacher and dolls.

Wherever Nan goes, there is her Shadow. Felicity joined in first day pictures.

I didn't realize that Nan had snapped this picture of Jo's first Phonics lesson. We are taking a video of ourselves saying our short vowel A poem.  We are using The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading by Jesse Wise. So it is new to both Jo and I this year!
