It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Family Fun Goal: Host an Elf Party

We hosted our Annual Elf Party after Christmas this year. We had about 50 people come play games, hang out, and eat with us. It was a blast!!! Many new faces this year playing and winning the games! That is why we play these silly games:they are all just so silly that anyone can win!

You can read more about how we host our Elf Party by clicking here.

Grab a name tag. First write your name and then your Elf Name. Believe it or not we had two Clumsy Candy Canes! Must have been a lucky name because they both were new this year and they both won a game!

Coke Chugging Contest

In the movie, Buddy drinks and entire 2 –liter bottle of coke without stopping. (He later releases a rather large burp but please remember this is a coke- chugging contest not a burping contest!)
[Buddy burps loudly]
Buddy: Did you hear that?

chug, chug, chug

Julie the Elf who is able to chug a bottle of coke the fastest!

One ginormous candy bar

Just a sample of the food.

I have a Lite Brite out each year. I had one as a kid but picked this one up at garage sale. The kids love it!

Nan and Mickey. I can't believe that Mickey is old enough to attend (and drive!) to our house on her own.

Christmas sweaters, Elf Costumes, Santa hats, and funny headbands are encouraged. N1 models her double santa head band while sampling some food. At first she refused to try anything but soon, I caught her snacking!

Alina is our Cotton- Headed Ninny Muggins...I mean the winner of the cotton ball eating contest!
Cotton Ball Eating Game
In the doctor’s office, Buddy eats several cotton balls. We are not going to eat actual cotton balls but instead marshmallows!

Elf Serving Size Guessing Contest

Buddy: We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

Shannon must have an eye for the 4 Elf Food Groups!
Snowflake Cutting Contest
Gimbel's Manager: This, is the North Pole.
Buddy: No it isn't.
Gimbel's Manager: Yes it is.
Buddy: No it isn't.
Gimbel's Manager: Yes it is!
Buddy: No it isn't! Where's the snow?

The entries

The 4 girls who came the furtherest for the party (all 4 are being hosted through NHFC) were our guest judges this year. They awarded Linda the prize for best snowflake!

Buddy’s Breakfast Contest
Emily: You like sugar, huh?
Buddy: Is there sugar in syrup?
Emily: Yes.
Buddy: Then YES!

N2 not actually participating in the game. Later she helped her self to some leftover noodles but added ketchup.

Shiloh is the Elf who enjoys Buddy's Breakfast the fastest

It's Not Free Candy Game
Santa: I've been to New York thousands of times.
Buddy: Really?
Santa: Mm-hmm.
Buddy: What's it like?
Santa: Well, there are some things you should know. First off, you see gum on the street, leave it there. It isn't free candy

And Alina is in for another win! She is the Elf able to guess the flavors of "not free candy"

This year's addition: a cotton candy machine!

candy beard

N2 and N1 enjoying cotton candy!

Hanging out with their new friends. There are 5 Eastern European kids who are currently being hosted or have been hosted and are not adopted at this party! How cool is that????
Jovie’s Ribbon Contest
Gimbel's Manager: 6-inch ribbon curls honey.
Jovie: That's impossible.
Gimbel's Manager: 6 INCHES!

Our Ribbon Judges!

Our Ribbon winner: Clumsy Candy Cane

  1. I love the idea of taking pictures of the winners of the various games! :) We added another game this year--an obstacle course. I, of course, haven't gotten around to blogging our party yet, but maybe someday. . . :D Thanks again for the great idea--it's always a hit!

  2. Great to see these party pics. It is amazingly arranged. Liked the activities that you arranged. My sister threw an awesome elf party at one of local event space San Francisco last year. She arranged entertaining games that were enjoyed by everyone.
