It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

Throw Back Thursday

Remembering our first birthday together.

This week our daughter becomes a teenager! Even back in September, I expected we would be celebrating this milestone birthday with her at home. It hurts to miss yet another one of her special days.

Clearly I remember standing in front of the big book of cakes while she picked out this birthday cake and then considered all sorts of color combinations for the icing. She even picked out the candles! (Maybe that is a little glimpse into her personality for you!)

While visiting her a week and half ago, we had just a few moments the three of us. So Michael and I sang Happy Birthday to her and gave her a small gift. We promised her cake and pepsi when she (finally!) gets home.
