It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start. -Mother Teresa

TBT: B-day Edition

Throw Back Thursday

Nancy Birthday Edition

The day started off with her favorite Uncle and Aunt surprising her with doughnuts.
Aunt Karen even followed our family tradition and decorated her house! Even 2000 miles away, you can't escape some family traditions!

I surprise Nancy with a horseback riding lesson and trail ride along the edge of Sequoia National Park

Doing this together was an act of love, I have no desire to ride a horse but it was a dream of Nancy's.

That evening we pick up her Dad at the airport. He has flown in to celebrate her birthday, thanksgiving, and join in the tail end of our road trip.

Dad brought all of her birthday cards for her to go through. The girls and I had been on our road trip for 23 days at this point we either stayed with friends/family or tent camped. I knew by this point, Nancy would be ready for some time to veg out. So we booked a hotel room at a hotel with a hot tub! (She really just wanted to watch tv and not be around JoJo.) It was the only time we stayed in a hotel on our entire 5 week road trip.

Annual Birthday toast and prayer

We had really missed this guy!

Nancy had a cake in mind but couldn't find it....we drove to a dozen bakeries and stores until she found this one in a walmart (which was the only thing open by that point!)  Half cookie/Half Cake. We sat on the bed and the three of us ate it with forks. That is how the Robey family creates memories!

There isn't much doubt, this child is wanted, loved, and spoiled. Twelve years ago you made us parents for the first time. Thanks for being our practice kid.
